LITTLE LAMBS, BIG HOPE - RACHEL NYAMBURA

Rachel Nyambura was born on 29th October 2020 to Ann Njeri and Samuel Macharia. She is the second-born in a family of four children and lives with her family in Manyani Estate, Nakuru County. Sadly, only two of the four children remain, as the other two died from different causes.

Both Samuel and Ann depend on casual labor to support their family. They travel to the more affluent Area neighborhoods in search of work. Ann does laundry, while Samuel works as a laborer on construction sites.

Although Samuel lives with his wife and children, the responsibility of providing for the family falls largely on Ann. Samuel struggles with alcohol and often spends what little he earns on drinking. Whatever Ann earns goes toward rent and food for the children, but it is usually not enough. There are times when the family goes without one or even two meals in a day.

As Rachel approached school age, her mother knew she did not have the means to send her to school. But through God’s provision, Ann met a woman who had previously cared for a Little Lamb. Her child had graduated from the program, and one day, as Ann shared her struggles about being unable to take Rachel to school, the woman told her about Little Lambs.

Toward the end of 2024, Ann visited the Little Lambs Center in Nakuru, where she met the staff and requested that Rachel be considered for the program. Rachel was placed on the list of potential Lambs and, following an assessment of her family’s circumstances, was admitted to the program in January 2025.

Rachel is a bright girl who is always ready to learn. She loves singing games, sliding, the swings, and running. She is grateful to be a Little Lamb and eager to make the most of every opportunity to learn and grow.

For Rachel, becoming a Little Lamb opened a door that her family could not open on its own. She now has the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a different future while her family continues to face the daily challenges of poverty.
